Devil Awakens Product Name: Satana Uyanlar Publisher: Ötüken Publications Author: Server Bedi,Peyami Safa Category: Turkish Novel Stock Code: 9786254082238 Number of Pages: 143 Size: 12 cm x 19.5 cm Publishing Date: December 2021 Cover Type: Paperback Paper Type : 55 gr Holmen Language : Turkish Publisher : Serdar Soydan Satana Uyanlar is a unique Peyami Safa text that was published in 65 serials in Yılmaz newspaper, directed by Yusuf Ziya Ortaç, between February 22 and April 30, 1931. The novel is the first modern example in our language of adaptations of Faust, one of the greatest works of the Western literary canon, that carries almost all the elements of the narrative. Peyami Safa has used poverty and deprivation, which is more interesting for the Turkish reader, as a deceptive motif, without entering the circle of worldly knowledge-divine understanding oppositions in the Western tradition, and has handled sexuality as forbidden knowledge by placing women at the center of the fall caused by Satan. In the words of Burcu Alkan, "Satana Uyanlarlar", prepared for publication by Serdar Soydan, "Although it is an important Faustian text that has no equivalent in Turkish, it has not emerged from Turkey's cultural infrastructure. It is a product of Peyami Safa's intellectual wealth and awareness of world literature. It is a Turkish Faust narrative, but how much Turkish it is is debatable. However, when Devil Awakens is considered a Faustian text or a Safa novel, it can be considered classic or even ordinary, but it is important as a 'Faustian Safa text'.” More than 10 stocks were offered for sale at the campaign price.
